EOHSI Award for
Environmental Excellence in New Jersey

Each year the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute presents an award to a prominent citizen of New Jersey who has made a significant impact on health and the improvement ofthe environment. On January 29, 2003, the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute presented Governor Thomas Kean with the 2003 EOHSI Award for Environmental Excellence in New Jersey at a dinner at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

During Govern Kean's administration, he made the improvement of the environment in New Jersey one of his central themes. Furthermore, he was a major force in establishing the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute. His continued dedication to education is further demonstrated by his presidency and leadership at Drew University, and his service to the country is emphasized by his recent appointment by President Bush to head the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks.

The members of the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute are indebted to Goveror Kean for supporting the establishment of the Institute during his administration and for providing the basis for our name. It is our firm belief that during his tenure as Governor he succeeded in setting a high standard for excellence in the areas of environmental research and protection to which others should aspire.
