Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute

The University Connection

The Clinical Center for Environmental and Occupational Health is a major outreach service of the internationally respected Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute.

The Institute's goals are: recognizing, evaluating and preventing risks to human health and the environment; improving methods to find and treat people affected by environmental agents; and developing and translating scientific information for effective decision-making by communities, employers, workers and government officials.

The Institute is among a select number of national centers of excellence recognized by several federal agencies, including the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NEIHS), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA).

EOHSI is jointly sponsored by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. UMDNJ is the largest health sciences university in the nation, comprising seven schools on four campuses and a network of more than 100 hospital affiliates statewide.
